Wave House Sentosa
Wave House Sentosa is the fourth and newest installation in an archipelago of Wave Houses that include South Africa, California, and Chile. The Singaporean sports scene has finally found middleground as local surfers, skaters, skimboarders and even snowboarders, flock to Sentosa in search of perfection on the rushing wave. Home to the FlowBarrel® and FlowRider®, Wave House Sentosa is an oasis of delectable food and drinks - within reach of Singapore's hustle and bustle, but a world away. Wave House Sentosa is one of 117 nominees for the Spirit of Enterprise award in 2010! Singapore has long been a crossroads for surfers seeking the perfect waves at beaches around Southeast Asia, however the island itself lacks the giant waves which surfers long for. Wave House has brought a perfect, endless, 10’ barrel wave that rivals those at the beaches of Uluwatu, Grajagan or Macaronis, Indonesian coasts which boast the best waves around Singapore. The centerpiece of Wave House Sentosa is “The Wave” - a fully-flowing, FlowBarrel® sheet wave that approximates a roaring, 10-foot wave when it’s cranked to setting 11. Invented by Tom Lochtefeld, the founder and CEO of Wave House (and a surfer himself), sheet waves pump water at a high speed over stationary curved walls to generate barreling and smooth waves. The waveform is a proprietary composite membrane ride surface that is designed to absorb the energy of impacts. So rest assured – even if you wipeout, you’ll soon be back on your feet. This is a twenty-first century form of alchemy that has combined surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding and almost any sport wth the word board in it. Since the early 1990s, the world’s best board riders have cross-pollinated into flowboarding, taken as seriously as those from the mountains and the sea.Satisfy your cravings for an adrenalin rush at the WaveHouse on Siloso Beach! Experience the thrill of surfing on simulated waves on the FlowRider, regardless of whether you’re a novice or a professional surfer.
